Amino Acids Made Simple: A TI-84 Plus CE Tool for Your Success

Amino Acids on the TI-84 Plus CE: A Study Tool for AP Chem & Biochemistry

Amino acids are one of the most memorization-heavy topics in chemistry. Between names, abbreviations, polarity, charge, and pKa values, students often spend more time memorizing than actually understanding how amino acids are used in chemical and biological systems.

To make studying easier, I created an Amino Acids Reference Program for the TI-84 Plus CE calculator. It’s designed to give students a fast, organized way to look up amino acid information while studying or working through practice problems.

Instead of flipping between lecture notes, online charts, or old practice guides, you can scroll through a clean, organized list of amino acids directly on your calculator.

For each amino acid, the program shows:

  • One- and three-letter abbreviations
  • Polarity and charge category
  • Side-chain pKa (when relevant)
  • A short R-group description

This tool is especially helpful for students taking AP Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or Biochemistry — where quick recognition of amino acids can save time and reduce errors.

If you want a reliable amino acid reference you can access anytime, you can learn more about the program and download it here:

Like all programs on mcstutoring.com, this one installs quickly using TI-Connect CE and works completely offline once loaded on your calculator.
