PARA: Your Parabola TI84 Calculator Program

PARA: Your Parabola Equation TI84 Program

Are you struggling with parabolas in your math class? Do you find it challenging to remember all the formulas and steps required to solve complex parabolic equations? Worry no more because PARA is here to help!

PARA is your TI84 calculator program that can answer a variety of questions about parabolic equations. All you need to do is enter the coefficients of the equation in standard form, and PARA will do the rest. The program can determine the direction of opening, maximum or minimum y-value, vertex, equation of axis of symmetry, y-intercept, and x-intercepts (if any).

One of the biggest benefits of using PARA is improved accuracy. With PARA, there’s no need to worry about making a mistake while solving parabolic equations. The program does all the calculations for you, ensuring that your answers are correct every time.

Another benefit of PARA is that it saves you time. Instead of spending hours trying to solve complex parabolic equations, you can use PARA to get the answers you need in just a few seconds. This gives you more time to focus on other areas of your math class or to tackle other assignments. Or, just enjoy yourself, socialize, or catch up on sleep.

Using PARA can also reduce stress and anxiety about math class. If you struggle with math or have difficulty remembering formulas and equations, you may feel overwhelmed or frustrated. However, with PARA, you can take the stress out of solving parabolic equations and feel more confident in your math abilities.

PARA Solving Parabolic Equations

PARA, your TI84 parabola equation program

Basically, all you have to do is enter the coefficients of your parabola equation in standard form. The standard form is the most common form of parabolic equations, giving you a Y on the left side and all of the X terms on the right side of the equation. It’ll start with your X-squared term, then your X term and, lastly, your constant or number term.

Often, there is no coefficient of X-squared. If all you see is X-squared, as in the image below, you’ll assume the A term is equal to 1. If there is no X-squared term, A=0, and it isn’t a parabolic equation.

PARA program with no stated A value

So, in the red example, you’d enter A=1, B=5 and C=6.

Notice how the output gives you the direction of opening (up); the minimum y value (y=-0.25); the vertex as a coordinate pair (-2.5, -0.25); the equation of the axis of symmetry (x=-2.5); the y-intercept as an ordered pair; and the x-intercepts as ordered pairs [(-2,0) & (-3,0)].

Para 5
Para 6

In the image above, with A=-1, you’ll notice how the inputs will give you the output of a parabola opening down, so that there is a maximum point. Be sure to use the negative sign (-) rather than a minus sign when you intend to enter negative numbers. It is the button to the left of the enter key and below the 3 key on the TI84 calculator keypad.

PARA with no x-intercept
Para 8

In the example above, you’ll notice there is no X-intercept. Fortunately, PARA recognizes that and gives you the correct output of No X-Intercept.

PARA with one X-intercept
Para 12
Para 13

In the above example, you’ll notice there is only one term, the negative X-squared term. Since there is only a negative sign in front of the X-squared, the A value is -1. As there are no X and constant terms, B and C both equal 0. In the output, you’ll see that there is only one Y-intercept and one X-intercept.

PARA program will recognize if the inputs are not a parabolic equation

Lastly, if you input an example with A=0, PARA will recognize that it is not a parabolic equation. See the image below:

PARA Will Save You Time and Free You of Stress

When you’re ready to liberate yourself from the mundane task of calculating all these values for parabolas, buy PARA. You’ll save time, increase accuracy, and relieve yourself of unwanted stress. You’ll be glad you did.

You might also want to use PARA just to check your work. That’s a great idea. You can use PARA to double-check your work on parabolic equations. That’ll save you time and cognitive load so you can focus on other aspects of your math class, or your life!
