Your sessions with a tutor at mcstutoring are simple. At first, we will work together on your homework. You will write the problem on your whiteboard and I will guide you through it. You will find this private tutoring style more helpful than other approaches. 

At first, I might do the majority of the writing. This is normal, especially if you are struggling. Once you regain your math or science mojo, this changes. You will do the majority of the writing. Then, you will set up the math questions and show your work. I’ll jump in only if you have a question or make a mistake.

Why Share My Work With A Private Tutor?

Why do I want to see your work? Sometimes I recommend an easier or faster approach.  I’ll also recommend easy corrections. You’ll realize I’m on your side and want you to perform well in your class. It’s important for you to know someone cares. Math and science are fraught with teachers who care for math and science more than they do for their students.

With mcstutoring, you, the student, are the focus of the process. Your questions and concerns take priority. If you have a question about the process, you are encouraged to ask. That way, you can make progress faster than just trying to keep up with a tutor who is rushing through the process.

Most students appreciate the collaborative nature of this work. Think of it more as the two of us working together rather than a one-way data dump. The more you realize you can do math and science, the better!

Digital Record Of Your Work With Your Private Tutor

You will have a digital copy of your work you can access from any device. This could be a laptop, desktop, iPad, or even a phone.

Despite any fears you may have, you will likely appreciate the easy access to your work. This allows you to access your notes anywhere, anytime. Right before a test, this is extremely helpful. You can see your own notes, in your own handwriting.

One student even showed his work from his phone to his teacher. She accepted it for credit. This saved him the need to transcribe it. He was ecstatic!*

*Please note that this type of teacher is rare. This student’s next teacher requested that he print out his homework. He learned how to print it out to his teacher’s satisfaction. At least this beat having to transcribe it by hand.

Another advantage to using an online whiteboard is that you can post images onto your board. You can even do this before or between sessions. This way, we can both view any specific questions you have during your next session.

Ease And Flexibility Of Scheduling

Many of us have busy and ever-changing schedules. If this is the case for you or your student, you will enjoy the ease and flexibility of scheduling with mcstutoring. Whether you are seeking help for test preparation or math tutoring, scheduling with the Acuity scheduler is fantastic.

First, you can schedule sessions as often as you wish. That allows for flexibility in scheduling. If you need a session one week and then not for another month, that’s fine. The scheduler allows for that.

Second, you can schedule sessions for 30 or 60-minute increments. Sometimes students have only a few questions they want to cover. The availability of 30-minute sessions allows for them to set these short sessions when they need. Also, if your student needs a 90-minute session, you can schedule a 60-minute session followed by a 30-minute session.

Third, payment is a breeze. You can pay via PayPal using the scheduler. If you already have a PayPal account, you are fine. If not, PayPal accepts credit cards and even checks. Should you have a balance in your account at the end of the school year, you will be refunded the remaining balance.

Fourth, you will receive reminders about your sessions. You will receive an email confirmation when you set a session. Then, on the day of the session, you’ll receive a text reminder. This helps you keep on track with your scheduled sessions.
