Math Tutoring

Math tutoring with mcstutoring is simple. At first, we will work together on your math homework. You will write the problem and I will guide you through it. When you become accustomed to this approach, you will find this more helpful than other approaches. By using an online interactive whiteboard, you’ll be able to access your work anytime.

In the beginning, I might do the majority of the writing. This is normal, especially if you are struggling with your math work.

Once you regain your math mojo, this changes. After some time, you will be do the majority of the writing. Then, you will set up your math questions and show your work. I’ll jump in only if you have a question or make a mistake.

How Math Tutoring Works

Why do I want to see your math work? Sometimes I recommend an easier or faster approach.  Also, I’ll recommend easy corrections. You’ll realize I’m on your side and want you to perform well in math. It’s important to you to know someone cares. Unfortunately, math is fraught with instructors who care more for math than their students.

Regarding math tutoring, you have a voice in the process. Most students appreciate the collaborative nature of this work. Think of it more as the two of us working together rather than a one-way data dump. When you  you realize you can do math, the less you’ll dread it!

Digital Record Of Your Work

You will have a digital copy of your math tutoring work you can access from any device. This could be a laptop, desktop, iPad, or even a phone.

Despite any fears you may have, you will likely appreciate the easy access to your work. This allows you to access your notes anywhere, anytime. Right before a test, this is extremely helpful. You can see your own notes, in your own handwriting.

After completing his homework during a session, one student showed his work from his phone to his teacher. She accepted it for credit. This saved him the need to transcribe it. He was ecstatic!

Another advantage to using an online whiteboard is that you can post images onto your board. You can even do this before or between sessions. This way, we can both view any specific questions you have during your next session. Students love this aspect of using an online interactive whiteboard for their math tutoring.

Scheduling Sessions Only When You Want Help

Last Minute Tutoring Sessions
Scheduler for your sessions

With the online scheduler, you can set math tutoring sessions to be as long as you need. And as often as you need.

Having been busy in high school myself, I realize that your schedule can change weekly. The scheduler allows you to set sessions when you need them, as you need them. You can even set a session the same day. You just need to do so at least 4 hours in advance.

In case you have a math tutoring emergency, you can text me. While you might not be able to meet with me for a full hour that same day, you can likely set up a session for 30 minutes.

You might be rather busy with all of your school and extracurricular commitments. In this case, you might want to sample online math tutoring. Most students who’ve tried this option use it almost exclusively. The rest will use online math tutoring only when they are time-crunched. Either way, you might want to try it.
