Last Minute Tutoring Sessions 2021/2022

Last minute tutoring sessions do exist! You can always contact me for a last-minute session. While the scheduler on mcstutoring.com will only allow you to set (or reschedule or cancel) a session at least 4 hours in advance, you might be able to set a last-minute session.

Details on Setting Your Last Minute Tutoring Sessions

First, you’ll need to have credits in your account. That’s to cover the cost of the session. If you need to, you can purchase packages here.

Second, you’ll need to have completed your initial (free)tech check. This way, you’ll know your technology works for your last minute tutoring sessions.

What to Do

You can text me, asking for the length and time of your sessions. While you might want your session to be an hour or longer, often only a 30-minute session is available. This is more often the case the closer students are to finals. So, if it’s December/January or May/June, you’ll have more luck in asking for a 30-minute session.

Also, please let me know a time frame that would work for you or your student. Some examples: anytime after 3:30; before 4:30; or, between 5 & 6.

Making Best Use of Your Sessions

To make best use of your sessions, please:

-Post as many questions on your board beforehand. The more focused, the better.

-If you don’t have specific problems to post, please post the topics. That will help keep us focused on what we need to accomplish

Split Sessions

Since a full 60-minute session may not be available, you can consider 2 30-minute sessions. Some students have preferred the break between their sessions. This works well especially under pressure. The time interval between their 2 30-minute sessions allows them time to absorb and process what they’ve worked on during the first session. Then, they return to the second session more relaxed and able to focus more on what they still need help with.

Examples of Requests for Last Minute Tutoring Sessions

First example:

Martin, Johnny is desperate for help with his algebra test. It’s not for 2 days, but he cannot meet tomorrow. He’s available today between 3:30 & 5:30.

Any help would be appreciated. Johnny can meet for either 30 or 60 minutes. He’d even be happy to have 2 30-minute sessions sometime this afternoon.

Thank you!

Second Example:

Martin, Jenny just found out she has a calculus test tomorrow. While she’d prefer an hour, she’d gladly take a half hour. She’d available from 2-3 or after soccer practice, from 5-5:30.

She doesn’t have a review guide, so she’ll post the topics she needs most help with.

Thanks!

In Conclusion

You can always contact me for last minute tutoring sessions. While you might not be able to secure one, you are definitely encouraged to try.

For the most part, texting is best. I cannot answer my phone while tutoring, but I can often respond to a text between sessions.

If there is something else you wish to convey, you can do so via a Voicemail or Email. It will help if you text me that you’ve done so.

Thanks, and good luck!
