Last-minute sessions are possible even though the scheduler requires you make a session at least 90 minutes before the start of the session.
For example, using the scheduler, if you want to set a session for 3:30 pm today, you’d have to set it by 2 pm. So, to set a session earlier than that, or for a time that you might not see available on the scheduler, contact me. Texting is fastest.
Big Caveat:
This assumes you have enough credit in your account to set your last-minute session. You must have credit or a bought package with hours of credit in order to set last-minute sessions.
Information to Include in your request for a last-minute session
In your request for a last-minute session, please mention the following:
Who wants the tutoring:
For a lot of families, I tutor multiple siblings. Your letting me know who needs help allows me to set up the Ziteboard beforehand. Also, I’ll know who to expect to FaceTime me when the session begins.
What Topic:
Sometimes, we might be working on a worksheet. If your student has already posted the worksheet on their board, this helps us make best use of their tutoring time.
When your student is available:
Sometimes I can manage to move breaks around the schedule in order to accommodate your request.
This is more likely to happen in the slower times of the year. In late January and mid- to late June, this is more difficult. But, if I can accommodate you, I will. Just text me as soon as you know you need or want a session.
How long a session you’d like or accept:
While most students opt for an hour-long session, your student might be able to get it done in 30 minutes.
I’ll do what I can to make it happen, but often there might be only a half-hour session available. Thirty minutes can help address most urgent problems. Most of the time, a 30-minute session can also help to quell a lot of the anxiety your student may have about their assignment due tomorrow or a pop-quiz.
Sample Request:
Martin,
Please let me know if you have either a 30 or 60-minute session available later today, anytime between 4 and 6. Josh has a quiz tomorrow on factoring.
He’d prefer one hour, but 30 minutes would do in a pinch.
Thanks.
P.S. He has a review guide he’ll post to his Ziteboard.
Final Note:
If you have credit on your account to cover the session and I can make it happen, it will happen.
