Downloading TI 84 Programs

Downloading TI 84 programs is easier than you think. In this example I’ll show you how to download a quadratic formula program onto your TI 84. Once you learn how to do it, you can download other programs onto your TI 84.

By October of 2020, we should have at least 5 general math programs for free download from this site. Once you know how to download programs from mcstutoring.com, you’ll be able to take advantage of those free programs. All from the convenience of your home.

Before Downloading TI 84 Programs

First, make sure you already have the TI Connect software on your desktop or laptop. You can watch the video below to see how to do that. It’s free and should only take you about two minutes.

Here is the link to TI Connect, the software you’ll need to connect your computer to your calculator.

You should have the TI Connect icon somewhere on your desktop if you’ve downloaded TI Connect correctly.

Next, you want to make sure you have your calculator connected to your desktop or laptop. To do that you’ll need the USB to mini USB cable. If you don’t already have it, you can buy it from Staples or Best Buy

After that, you need to make sure your calculator is on. You’re probably thinking that’s pretty obvious, but it’s an important point.

So, after your calculator is on and connected to your computer with TI Connect, check on this window, which will pop up. You’ll want to make sure your TI 84 shows up as a connected calculator.

Once all that is completed, you can download this program:

QUAD.8xp

It’s a basic quadratic formula program you can use to solve second-degree polynomial equations.

Basically, you will click and drag the QUAD.EXP program onto your connected calculator. It should show up on the TI Connect calculator image.

Make Sure Your Program Is On Your Calculator

To check, you can remove your device from your computer. Just make sure you go through the proper procedure for that.

After you’ve disconnected your TI 84 calculator from your computer, please turn your calculator off. Wait a few moments and then turn it on again. As silly as it seems, it needs a moment.

Now press the PRGM key. You should see a list of programs on your calculator. If you see QUAD on your calculator, the download was successful. For you, downloading other TI 84 calculator programs will be easy. All you have to do is repeat these same steps. Hurrah!

If it isn’t working, you may want to recheck the steps. Generally, a couple of the common obstacles:

First, your cable was not fully connected during part of the process. This happens more often than you think. It might have wriggled loose. As it’s happened to me more often than I’d like to admit, this possibility should be checked first. It’s also happened to quite a few of my students. So, please check your cable connection.

The second possibility is your RAM is full. In that case, you might have to delete other programs. For those of you with game programs, this is most likely the case. Delete all unnecessary programs or transfer them to another calculator for safekeeping.

To check your RAM, please follow these steps:

If RAM FREE or ARC FREE is a small number, you probably need to do some calculator memory decluttering.

Final Notes

Again, if you have any requests, please let me know. There are some programs that will be posted for free download. Others that I may have to create for you, I will charge a nominal fee.

Thanks for time. May your TI 84 programs serve you well!
