Circular Motion TI 84 Program

Circular Motion TI 84 Program you can download for free. Zach programmed this sometime around 2003. So, if you see Zach, please thank him.

This CMOTION program provides you with all the formulas and calculations to help you through circular motion. If you’re taking physics, this program will help you a lot. While it cannot solve every problem, it does have all the equations you need. Also, you can use the program to solve for any missing information.

How To Download Circular Motion Program

First, you need to download the program. You can look at these links:

in order to make sure you have all what you need.

Basically, you’ll need a TI 84 calculator of some kind. After that, you’ll need a USB to Mini-USB cable. This will provide the physical link between your calculator and computer. Next, you’ll need to download TI Connect onto your computer. This is tricky as they just updated to OS 5.6. Though many prefer the 5.4 OS, the 5.6 OS seems to be the only one available right now.

So, once you have your calculator, the cable, and TI Connect, you’re ready to download CMOTION. Let’s see how it works.

How Circular Motion Program Works

First, you’ll press PRGM to locate it. Scroll down until you see it. Then press ENTER. This is the image on the left in the collage below.

And, as it’s 80s technology, you’ll have to press ENTER again to run the program. (This is the middle image of the collage).

For those youngsters unfamiliar with the early days of technology, you have to select a program to run by pressing enter. Next, you have to press ENTER again to run it. Yes, it could be more user-friendly, but it’s what we have.

Once you run the Circular Motion program (CMOTION),  you should see this drop-down menu (right-most image):

First, you should notice that all the circular motion formulas are right there. That’s awesome! Even if the program did nothing else, it’s handy that you can see all the circular motion equations all at once.

Second, you can select an equation you want to work with. Basically, it should be the one that includes all but one of the variables you are given. The missing one is the one you want to solve for. Fortunately, the program will do it for you from now on.

For this example, you’re given v (velocity) and r (radius). And the question asks that you solve for f (frequency). Notice how option 3 has all the letters you are either given or are looking for. Press 3.

Now you ought to see this menu:

Notice how you can choose which letter you’d like to solve for. So, solving for f, we select option 3. We will enter the values for the variables given. Press ENTER after each value.

Finally, it will provide you with the missing value. In this particular example, the missing value for f is 0.099.

Voila! You are finished.

Final Notes

Notice that you can re-run the Circular Motion program once you run it. Just press ENTER.

Also, you can solve for most any question you could be asked about circular  motion.

If you want a similar program for other physics topics, please let me know. Some are in the process of creation and some are already ready. Just ask.

There might be a nominal fee for some. It’s a small price to pay for the time it will save you. Oh, and the accuracy of knowing you’re right.

Take care and good luck with all of your academic endeavors!
