I offer algebra tutoring in Huntington Beach for those students who need help. Most of the students I work with would describe me as a tutor with equal parts compassion and competence.
Many students who have already encountered difficulties learning math become lost in algebra. The addition of variables to math is a level of abstract thinking that can confuse many students. Fortunately, mcstutoring is proficient in helping students understand and overcome such challenges in the study of algebra.
For those learning on their own, there is a fantastic book that may help: Forgotten Algebra by Barbara Lee Bleau. This is a great guide to getting started in algebra. The book contains almost all topics covered in algebra 1 and the basics from algebra 2. There is an abundance of worked out examples. The book also includes many answers worked out step by step. I highly recommend this book to anyone wishing to learn or refresh their algebra skills.
For those who need help with algebra word problems: How to Solve Word Problems in Algebra by Mildred Johnson. Most topics in algebra word problems, such as mixture, age, coin and digit questions are fully addressed. Each of these basic types of word problems come complete with tables you can use to set up the problem. Since the setup is the primary difficulty students have with these problems, this book is wonderful. Most of my algebra students have used this book to help them overcome the difficulties they faced with algebra word problems.
For those who need help, I provide algebra tutoring in a quiet study room within the Huntington Beach Central Library. I am an affable, nonjudgmental Pomona College graduate who is concerned about his students. Many families in the Huntington Beach and surrounding areas can attest to the help I has provided for their students who have struggled with algebra.
